Bulgaria’s Golden Kuker to screen Iranian ‘Malayz’

The Int’l Animation Filmfest- Golden Kuker in Bulgaria is to screen Iranian ‘Malayz’.

The International Animation Film Festival (IAFF) - Golden Kuker Sofia in Bulgaria has scheduled to screen acclaimed Iranian short animation ‘Malayz’.

The short animation is co-produced and co-directed by Leila Ahang, Sara Hanif, Maryam Alavi and Marziyeh Kordlou.

The 2-minute flick is about a nervous, naughty fish called Moslem.

He is resting on the seaweed board when a luminous ring drops down and wakes him up.

He gets angry and roars toward the ring.

The glow of the ring catches his eye, making him get it.

"His name is Moslem, the angriest fish ever. Don't let his cute sleepy face deceive you," a description says about the short. 

Launched in 2010 in Sofia, the Golden Kuker is the first animation film festival in Bulgaria.

The IAFF is a platform to showcase the best of global and Bulgarian animations aiming at promoting the creativity of this art.

This year’s edition of the IAFF will be held online on September 1-6, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This Side, Other Side’ by Lida Fazli, ‘Greyish’ by Eqbal Shirzaee-Sani, ‘Rainy Recollection’ by Masoud Qodsieh, ‘Mr. Indifferent’ by Aryasb Feiz, and ‘Tangle’ by Maliheh Gholamzadeh are the other Iranian representatives at the Bulgarian event.

Iran’s animated short title ‘Am I a Wolf?’ by Amir-Houshang Moeen grabbed Best Short film made for kids award at the 2019 edition of the Golden Kuker - Sofia.
